Donna Lost 12 KGS, 70cms, And Changed Her Whole Way Of Thinking

I started after seeing my before photo taken a week earlier while on holidays and I was horrified at the photo as I never saw myself as being that big and no-one ever said anything.

I had been telling myself I am going to lose weight and just never following through with it as I don’t believe I was in the right headspace. I was scrolling through my Facebook and Drew’s program popped up and right there and then I said “I’m doing this” and signed up”.

My original goal was to lose 10kg, I have been on the program for 24 weeks and lost 12kgs and over 70cm which I am super proud of. I have had my ups and felt like giving up because there have been weeks where I have only lost 200-300grams and weeks where I have lost nothing and I was seeing posts by other members who were losing big numbers and me because dishearted and disappointed but I told myself I will not give up, look at how far I had come and I was only letting myself down as I was only doing this for myself no one else but me and we all lose weight at different rates, just because someone is losing big numbers doesn’t mean I am doing anything wrong. So I kept going and to see my results to date is just amazing. I can now fit into a dress I wore before I had my 1st child 18 years ago which gave me the biggest confidence boost.

Yes, I have had bad days where I have not followed my plan for 1 reason or another but we all have bad days and I didn’t beat myself up about it I would just go back to my next meal on my plan for that day or start the next day. We all can’t be perfect every day if we are truly honest with ourselves.

I chose the at-home exercise program as I was too scared and embarrassed to join a gym but now I have so much more confidence partly because I have lost weight but also because I know I don’t care what other people think, I am doing this for myself and I want to improve my fitness I just wish I had that courage at the beginning and joined a gym, but I am now doing 3 outdoor fitness classes a week.

My whole way of thinking about food has changed and I now make healthier choices without even realizing it and this is the first time on a diet that I have actually changed my way of thinking. I still have my cheat meal every Saturday night and that will continue as this is my new way of eating.

My advice to anyone on this program is just to stick with it. Keep going. Don't beat yourself up for a slip-up, pick up and keep going. It gets easier with time. Love yourself always, even when you don't like yourself that much, you can and will do it! Talk to others and don't be afraid to say how you are feeling. For about 2 months the DBF program just kept popping up on my news feed. I kept putting off joining until I saw a picture of myself at my cousin's wedding.  This photo finally got me to sign up and I haven't looked back. Its been so much easier then I thought it would be.

The great thing is my perception of myself has now changed dramatically. I no longer look at myself with self-loathing when I try on clothes. What was once a chore is now something I really enjoy. I have more confidence to go out and mix with other people and the DBF way has just become a part of my lifestyle now.

For anyone who is doubting themselves I say keep going, what have you got to lose apart from all the things you don't like? What have you got to gain? Everything that you always wanted to be! Just go for it, like me, you will be so glad you did!

I am enjoying this journey immensely.Yes, there are hard days, but my achievements are so rewarding.
