It Takes How Many Months To Lose The Xmas Bulge?!

Holy shit, can you believe Christmas is nearly here already? Where the heck did 2018 go? I love Christmas time, I admit though, it was better when I was younger as now I’m buying thew presents instead of receiving them lol.

Anyhoot, a recent study was published by Cornell University shows that it takes 5 months for people, on average, to lose the weight they gain over the Xmas period. They found that people started gaining weight around October and kept gaining weight until early January. Here’s the thing though, the average weight gain was 0.6kgs so it’s nothing to get too excited about.

 

Now, we can blame parties, holidays, festivities, or cake. But, the majority of people who gain weight is because they take time off being ‘healthy’. Why? Because whether they like to admit it or not, being ‘healthy’ is a chore. And, just like I did when my dad would force me to pick up the dog poo before he mowed the lawn, whenever we get a chance we skip out on our chores,

 

Xmas is an awesome excuse to stop being ‘healthy’.

People always comment on how they like my balanced, down to earth, simplistic approach to fitness. That’s mainly because it’s how I, personally approach it. I’ve found the balance between being ‘healthy’, running a business, and enjoying family time. I know that the people who follow me are in the same boat.

 

So, here’s the thing, if you struggle with finding or maintaining motivation for working out or eating healthy, it’s because, internally, you view it as a chore. It’s something you feel you have to do instead of truly wanting to do. No supplement, fad, program, or new tights can save you until you change your thinking.

When I’m at the gym, I’m not thinking “fuck me these squats hurt, this sucks, I don’t want to be here”. I’m thinking “fuck me these squats hurt but, these squats is how I achieve the goals that I’m super excited about”. I constantly remind myself that exercise and healthy eating are simply means to an end, they are the journey, not the destination.

 

So, over the next few ‘festive’ months, whenever you catch yourself talking yourself out of working out or eating healthy, remind yourself that you are only doing it to achieve your goals, and achieving your goals can totally transform your body, your mind, your self-belief, and your life.
